Eddie, 1pissed, and the rest.
Dont take this the wrong way but as any experienced driver can attest. Most of the companies out there well intentioned or not first look out for themselves. Drivers are interchangeable commodities. Don't matter to them what happens in our lives as long as they get the all might $$$$ in their pockets. I have heard of stories and seen stories of companies giving drivers beat up dirty equipment. And then charging you when you quit for damages, dirty equipment and any other deduction they can think of. In my history as a driver almost every company I have quit has kept my last paycheck. 3 because of bankruptcy. 1 because they are crooks and 1 because they claim they never got my trip pak containing my last 8 trips. This is funny because it was 2 weeks worth. sent on seperate fridays but oh well life goes on.
Of course my last company takes the cake. I did lease purchase thru them. Completed the contract. They don't want to give me my title. It's a long story.
But in a nut shell here goes.
The truck I signed the contract on and made 100 of 104 payments on they had repossessed by the bank. They gave me another truck and told me the contract would just continue. A real PIECE. In the time I had it the following was all replaced. Starter, alternator, radiator, A/C compressor, rewired part of engine compartment. 6 new tires, injector and 1 tow bill. Total $6000 all came out of my maintance fund. Not to mention 10 days in the shop and loss of income too. I also had to pay for my own motel rooms. Anyway they kept charging me for truck payments until the 104th was made. Then they stopped. I ran a couple more weeks for them being promised my title. Went home finally for R & R and here I sit. They now refuse to give me my title claiming that because this truck wasn't on the contract that they don't have to.
I told them that because my truck was paid off they owe me a truck or just pay me back the value of the truck. They refuse that too. They even have gone as far as threats to report truck stolen, have me killed and everything else you can imagine. I just tell them give me the cops name and I will call him and press charges against you for Grand theft both auto and money, embezzelment, also I will call the IRS and tell them about your tax fraud. Since then they haven't talked to me and thats been over a week. Any advise?
Another nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotrod, pretty amazing story, though to be honest I doubt that they threatened to have you killed
before I give this some serious thought, what is the name of the company and what terminal did you drive out of? Seems a good place to start is a lawyers office.
-
WOW, your a far better man than me. Ticks me off just thinking about that. Lawyers love good documentation and pay stubs.....Costly yes but payable with satisfaction.

NO THE INDUSTRY IS AFU Knighton5, maybe you're one of them retard managers or even worse - company owner. The industry is in the dumpster, OTR people barely make enough to
feed themselves and/or family. Get a life you cannot fake the truth. -
Ya, ok. You sound like an angry person, now I see where the problem is.. In my 6 years OTR, Ive gotten along with every dispatcher Ive had (even if I didnt agree with everything) but I believe you work as a team and Ive never been punished by any of them. But I wish you the best and hope you find the right company to work for. DRIVE SAFE
Oh ya, I'm just a company driver for Crete .42 cpm and make plenty to be happy. Be happyLast edited: Oct 12, 2008

Hmmm, i may be wrong but i do beleive Rush is conected to Cheiftain out of flint Michigan, which I was employed with for like 6 mnths or so, the reason i stoped driveing for them is they were always pushing me to drive over my hours, and when id turn down loads, i'd be sitting. Other than that, i got along good with all of the employees, dispatch etc. They kept me moveing, and got me home when i was supose to, but im not willing to take the chance of losing my CDL for a few extra dollars, its not worth it. But anyways, just thought i would post this for anyone looking at cheiftain out of Flint Michigan. Be safe

Sorry to hear your situation, I would start looking for a good company that will let you drive legal and still make a decsent wage.... You can turn your company in to DOT... Its those companies that give others a bad reputation. Drive Legal and DRIVE SAFE -
Six years of OTR and you can say you never ran across an a-hole manager ???
All those years you never ran into a company that would rather lose the good drivers than
change managers ??? I'm sorry but you're either a softy wimp or like living in the truck or on
the road, but since your profile says not a trucker, I'd stick with cubicle person.
I changed managers at Swift and my second was a great one, I quit them for safety reasons,
truck wise. The other two would rather lose me, causing me no end of aggravation and pain so I left,
nothing good for me there, no time or patience to deal with problems on the road and with the company I work for. -
I'm sorry your in that situation. I wish you the best.
