How did you not notice this? Were you passing someone or just not paying attention?

Resist the urge to pass every chance you get. When other traffic is slowing down, probably a reason. Turn on the CB and hear what is going on. "Northbound, the bears set up a coop at your next pickle park..."

In the ole days of CB, we'd of known about the bears in the pickle park waaay before we ever got there, but I digress.....I don't know why, but somehow I get the feeling that you never did go back.

The only problem spot i saw in AZ was between phoenix and tucson. Tucson to NM border would be second.

The rest areas were redesigned for inspections 2 years ago. And it didn't take long. I didn't visit AZ for awhile. When i made a visit, those inspections were installed.

Or, just get a gig shagging trailers between the terminal and a dedicated, local customer. I had my own, dumpy scale experience awhile back. And after quitting, letting the contempt for the badge blow over, and recomposing myself, I just decided it was easier to find a gig where I wouldn't be dealing with the situation AS MUCH.
That said, always be mindful of the surroundings. A quiet, unoccupied "check station" the previous day could be lit up and buzzing with activity the next morning!! Especially the ones dotting the various spots in Texas.
