Securing Crane Counterweights

Absolutely not!! They are red hot on that sort of thing in the mines. It's an optical illusion.

 

Pretty much anywhere in Oz mate, not just the mines. But in the mines you know you need to be watching everywhich way AND ontop of all safety when your doing an induction and they have the acronym S.A.D. for any safety violation... (Site Access Denied) means no job.....

 

We need to enforce that here in the States. I see more and more guys, no high vis shirt or vest. No hardhats, shorts, tennis shoes or flip flops..

 

Gotta get you a pair of safety flip flops.

Actually watched a guy walk into a welding shop with that outfit you described. Half a dozen guys just turned and stared at him and he couldn't figure out what was wrong. Walked back outside and got in his truck. Bet you can guess the color and make.

But there is a time and place. Any job site is not one of them. Steel toe boots (not just "safety boots) Long pants/long sleeves or hi vis shirt if sleeves not needed or vest, hard hat if it's that type of job site. No shorts, Chinese safety boots or mankinis anywhere. Don't like those mi

 

ok, here is how I tied down the counterweight I currently have on
I tied to the lift lugs and did an X chain cross front and back. I then took chain and went over the top of the counterweight also. 6 1/2 inch chains holding 55k on the deck. Hope this helps

 

Ive hauled some, they had anti skid coating sprayed betwrrn each plate. Ive used chains and straps.
