If you go home weekly it will be for a 34 hr reset only.....

Mileage depends on your work ethic...

I stay out 11 days home 3 and average 5k..

Thank you Tow.........that would not work with my current family situation, I would need at least a 48 - 50 hours between a weeks commitment. I would think with all these over the road companies clamoring for quality experienced drivers, with a spotless DOT and clean PSP they would make exceptions, if you are a low maintenance driver that can get the job done. It makes it hard to go back OTR with those kinds of restrictions on time off........especially when many weeks your realistically (not all on duty, but yet available) trading them 70 hours for .40 some cents a mile. I deal with a lot more hassles driving local then I ever did over the road, but then again I sleep in my own bed every night (though some nights its pretty short).

Don't miss that part of local. Quit my local job last July and went regional. Still home every other night usually.
The problem with needing that guaranteed time at home every week is even if the company says ok, then they would have to keep you close enough to get you home for that guaranteed time. Before long, your miles are shorter due to this, you become unhappy, then eventually move on.

Thanks for the reply Mitrucker, ya I know the drill and what you says makes sense. I just thought Big G might be like many of these local Nashville companies and had tons regional freight (paper, bottled water, etc). I was just hoping that we would start to see some flexibility with these larger, quality OTR companies, especially with all the current DOT regulation and lack of quality drivers . I guess it just does not fit their business model.

Yeah. I wanted to give them a try too, but they don't hire out of MI.
BTW, have you looked at Sharp Transit in Mt Juliet. It's hard work, long hours, but the money is good. They have local and regional.

I might have to take another look at them. Their home terminal is in Ethridge TN, not far from my home. Their equipment always looks top notch and their drivers sing their praises. I know that they pay very low for local work as I see and speak with their drivers on a daily bases........but maybe they could accommodate me with some better pay for regional. Thank you for the thought !

Big G is an irregular route regional carrier. The concept of tailoring runs for individual drivers would be impossible. Besides..if they were to do that it would be for drivers with more tenure.

There is no shortage of drivers with good driving records regardless of what you may have heard.

I have found that there is no perfect company in the trucking industry. Just find what best works for you and stay with it. I hated the local stuff mainly because I live in Cookeville and always had to drive to Nashville daily which liked to have killed me, literally.

I was just happy they were hiring in my part of FL. My daughter said that there were 2 Big G's parked at the end of her road which is just a few miles from me, so we must have decent freight prospects near me.
