FMCSA has not stated any fine. It could be up to the states, or more than likely they will release the fine schedule in September after their annual conference, At lease all my google-## leads me to believe that for now anyway.

Pot this is kettle, Yes I can run a time card, and log anything over 11 hours, or 100 air miles on paper and still be exempt. However because of rules and regs on the ninth day over I need to go to elds. This is how this is Cost Preventitive to me. At this point are Goverment has regulated it to the point that I cant work the ninth trip. We all know business changes hour by hour. Cant afford to put elds in truck to not use them either.
Btw Guys. IM NOT CRYING. However Im the guy that likes to give the old out house a good stir once and awhile. -
Forget the long haul then. Do it on paper logs or not at all. Stay in the short haul. That once a year long OTR logging with the risk of fines etc for not having ELD is not something worth it's cost.
Government is very wunderbar at creating costs with rules. Costs you cannot live with. Or do without. It's like Obamacare, pay the penalty each year and be done with it much much much cheaper than paying 1500 a month or so for a family with kids. For a 10K deductable you cannot afford. -
I forgot the long haul 4 years ago. But being a 4th generation in trucking I like to fight them. Even if it has little effect on my operation. This is about are rights.

ELDs are going to be a logistical nightmare. Every person who moves the truck will require their own ELD code. The mechanic, truck washer, fuelers. Any person who moves the truck will have to log in/log out and violations will get more than just a hairy eyeball from the enforcement agencies. Too much micromanaging, JMHO
