Hello everyone.

Hey everybody!

My name is Neil and I live in the rural town of Bishop, CA. I've had my Class B license since 2012. I hope to someday to get my Class A but due to the rural area I live in the local DMV only does Class B testing.

I started my driving career as a beer/soda delivery driver. Liked the job HATED THE COMPANY! I then got hired on with a amusement and vending company delivering arcade games, jukeboxes, pool tables, and vending machines. After a few years of that I got burnt out and moved on to work at a trash and septic company as a septic truck driver. Believe it or not I genuinely enjoy the job.

In my spare time I enjoy anything to do with trucking and road geeking and that's what drew me to this forum.

I'm sure I will have lots of questions about the industry over time and if anyone has questions about the jobs I've worked I'd love to answer any questions.

 

I run a commercial front loader and residential rear loader from time to time but only as a fill in. I'm mainly on the septic side. Pumping septic tanks and grease traps. Now that spring is here I've been pumping vault toilets in the many local campgrounds.

 

Yes I have seen some absolutely disgusting things! haha. We don't have a locker room/showers either. Just have to get home then shower. It's honestly not that bad if I'm only pumping septic tanks that day. It's when I pump industrial sized grease traps that the stench clings to my clothing.
One time I pumped such a rancid vault toilet my girlfriend wouldn't even let me in the house until I took my clothes off and left them outside. Haha good times.

If I didn't have a good group of guys to work with I highly doubt I'd keep doing the job. Oh, and I keep a jug of hand sanitizer in my truck just in case of a mishap.
