You bring up an interesting point, either way. Our trainers are not all English grads. In fact, many began driving right out of high school and the military as a way to support their families. Everyone has a unique path into trucking.

What do you recommend we do to be a better company by your measure?

 

Heartland Express has trainers now?

I never fail to be surprised by the diverse backgrounds of drivers.

 

If I may offer you a piece of unsolicited advice, @Frank Speak... do your best to be an encourager. The power of positivity is pretty incredible. Lift up your fellow man.

 

We're in the process of building out our training program so that we can be a better option for drivers with less than 9 months driving experience (new hires that we would require be on with a trainer for a brief period of time). Currently, we have a waiting list.

 

Heartland is a publicly held company, correct? If so, your leadership's definition of "better company" is doing whatever increases share value to to keep the investors happy.

Sorry pilgrim, but to partially quote one of my favorite actors: Go sell your b.s. somewhere else. I'm all stocked up.

 

I like working for a family owned company. They have a long term view, not simply next quarter.
