HAY .... I still blow mine for the wife, when I'm running down 314 a block away from the house; she knows I love her ~!
KillingTime and Big Don Thank this. -
I can't imagine why anyone WOULDNT!!!!! Shoot, I make eye contact with the kids first and give em the ol "should I do it " look. Pretty sure I enjoy it more than them, but what heck, anything 'for the kids', right?!! Lol.
Yeah, any chance I get I give em the air horn.Grubby, KillingTime and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
I was passed by a 4 wheeler today, grandma driving, mama in the passenger seat and young kid in back seat pumping his arm. So I blew the air horn and grandma flinched. But the kid was jumping up and down in the back seat all excited.

I gave an older fellow a blast a few days ago. Looked like he just crawled out from under his truck. His arm pump and the response might have been his only victory for the day (was an older ride he was working on). I was willing to oblige; no skin off my back.kimbosa Thanks this.

I saw a driver get pulled over for doing this in Ohio back in the 90s. I would be telling a lie if I said I never did it because I have. However my last few years on the road I just waved back. Way back when I was a small child riding with my father I loved to do this when passing another driver and flashing the marker lights back to a driver after he flashed his headlights when we passed him. Another time and another world.
Big Don Thanks this. -
Just never do it when approaching a RXR track and a 4 wheeler about 300 yds ahead and the school kids all pumping their arms and the 4 wheeler thinking a trains coming...

Several months ago, I was rolling 80 through PA, and a work truck came up next to me. Driver signaled me to lay on it, passenger was sound asleep. I gave it a nice looooong blast, I do believe the passenger cracked his noggin on the window, flailing about like a fish out of water. Totally worth it.
As for kids, it depends on the car. Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, fugheddaboutit..... The more expensive the car, the dumber the driver, as a general rule. Hoity toity d-bags.austinmike Thanks this. -
Don't know if it's still on the books or not, but there used to be a section in The California Vehicle Code for "unnecessary use of horn."
I'd have to think that any copper that would write a big truck driver for sounding it for kids, would have to be so new that his badge weighed 25 pounds.
But it was a handy section to use as probable cause for a traffic stop with the gang-bangers.
