I have heard it from someone I trust that the bulk of the planning problems and issues started when they merged with/aquired part of the Ike flatbed company. Since I don't have any 'before Ike' experience I can't confirm...I only hope for the rest of ya'll that it is a temporary snafu in an otherwise likeable company.

I did get my .04 cpm bonus rate...plus I also had about a 15-20 min chat with the Op's manager about the issues I am dealing with. He says he is aware of the problems, and I am not the only one, but also claims changes have been made to correct them..I said I will believe it when I see it, actions speak louder than words. He hasn't done anything to make me mis-trust him that I know of, so I shall trust this time...at least problems were acknowledged, and my voice was heard...

Big G is seriously (over 60 loads) overbooked right now which is causing everyone much stress and confusion.
Before you came to work here SSB there was an announcement that the drivers were only averaging 7 hours a day on the drive line. Then there was an announcement that they were going to start making sure we had preplans so we could "plan our days better".
It's my belief that word came from the big offices to the planners to ride us drivers like jockeys in order to get more driving hours out of us.
In fact all they have accomplished is to stress out and hack off all the drivers to the point of quitting and we still spend half the day at a dock, fighting traffic or stuck in road construction. Only now we do those things and have no time to stop to eat or go to the bathroom.
Typical office jockey knee jerk solution to a problem that can't be fixed (or isn't even a problem). I just hope that this massive snafu with overbooking snaps them back to reality and things can go back to some semblance of sanity soon.Lonesome Thanks this. -
So @supersnackbar is this now frog soup? Seriously hoping the new system starts to optimize for ya'll and things get a bit more normal...well at least as normal as anything in trucking can be.
-
What he said is that there was a slowdown earlier this year and they were told to book all they could get, but once things returned to normal as far as freight volume...no one told the people to not book everything and that is why we're so chaotic...hopefully things balance and it doesn't swing back the other way and it slows down too much again.

I have now been here a few months shy of 3 years and while you have some drivers crying for more miles you have twice that many crying if you ask them to drive more than 300 miles a day. And I mean that literally !!!
I had a driver tell me in the parking lot that he refuses any load that requires him to drive over 250 miles a day. He lives in his truck and doesn't need any more than that.
I have stood beside my DM and listened to her and other DM's get frustrated with drivers who refuse to drive after dark or before daylight, rush hour traffic. Some don't want to drive north some don't want to drive south, some hate Texas.
Some think that they should be home by 5pm friday and not come back out until noon tuesday and still get 3000 miles..
If there is a planning problem it is trying to plan freight with a bunch of useless truckers.
This is the future of trucking and all industries...
I marvel how I can work at the same companies that others work at and do just fine yet every time i go into a drivers lounge all i hear is complaining about miles or equipment..
We are all going to be just fine.... We have plenty of freight.. i have never had anybody push me beyond what I can do legally.Last edited: Jun 8, 2017

Lol spellcheck, at SSB's former company we have much the same problem with certain drivers. They don't understand clock management and like hanging out talking trucking but yet complain there are no miles...tow614 Thanks this.

Yea, but they haven't gotten their Magnum monogrammed knee pads yet... (I'm kidding...that would cost the company too much...
