i still do not have elogs myself. -
well i know if ur bobtailing and ur not doin anything with a load it dosnt have to be logged. i was on my ten and everything when i went to walmart and when i went to go pickup a load later on i noticed i only had 10 hours left on my 14 and i called and they said well i had to log it. and im like no you dont i just went to walmart. but it just pissed me off. adding drive time for no legal reason

When Can Driving Time be Considered Off-Duty Time? This article explains it quite well.
-
Do you have that "Line 5" Off Duty Driving option on your ELD? If you used that line to go to Walmart and dispatch changed it to Line 3 I would get ahold of your Safety person and dispute it.

What elog system do use?
-
Sounds like you were driving under personal conveyance time. Maybe the safety guy logged it incorrectly?
UsualSuspect and Highway_Executive Thank this. -
It would depend on your company and their policy. As scottie asked, do you have Line 5, Personal Conveyance (sometime called "Off Duty Driving")? If so, yep you can drive bobtail, assuming you meet all the conditions to use it per your company policy.
If you don't have Line 5, or no personal conveyance policy, yes, your safety department can edit your logs to reflect all of your driving time.
As a heads up, if your company allows you some editing ability, after you make any edits and approve your logs, the safety department can still edit your logs to show you drove, when the log you approved shows you were off duty, sleeper birth, etc.brian991219 Thanks this. -
Lots of places won't allow "personal conveyance" (off duty driving), eLogs or not, Line 5 or not.
audeygdad Thanks this.
