Without access to ODD given to you by your company, it wouldn't matter. Still drive line.

If you're unsure why, please get with your safety folks.

Since you had to ask your dispatcher for
Permission to bobtail to wal-mart,I'm pretty sure
Your safety guy can do anything he wants to your logs.

In my best Paul Harvey voice, "Now we know the resssst of the story....."

I don't recommend just arbitrarily logging out of your ELD as an acceptable manner to achieve Off Duty Driving. What happens is you have effectively turned off the truck's insurance at that moment unless it were for a legit reason like hometime, or shop status then the truck is covered.

The appropriate method is to click on Line 5 if you have it to log off duty driving. If you do not have it, get with Safety and tell them your intentions. What will happen is the ELD will log Drive time but your Safety has the power to go in and change it to Off Duty for you. Or not. Some companies just don't recognize off duty driving at all. In that case you must be prepared to use your 11/14/8/70 for your Walmart trips. I sucks 42 levels of suckiness I know.

The solution would be to lease a truck from one of the mega carriers so you can run your business and life the way you like.

Except for the "lease" part. And the "mega carriers" part.

Well it depends did you put in your logs that you dropped your trl and how long did you drive for personal drive time you are usually only allowed an hour if you call safety they might be able to edit it for you

I"m curious as to why safety or whoever would have to add the drivetime anyways.

Isn't that automatically logged by the leash anyways???? Unless he was just going across the street.

The unit showed movement with no assigned driver. Safety put 2+2 together and assigned the drive time to the assigned driver of the unit. Now, if he had stayed logged into the system, yes it would show Drive time. What this driver tried to do is cheat the system.

My truck has Line 5 so if I want to leave the yard, I can Line 5 it for up to 2 hours a day. In the past I have Line 5'd it all the way from Texas to California when they couldn't get me a load home (different company)

Does your company allow you to use "Line 5"? Some companies do not allow the use of personal conveyance. Just because your dispatcher said yes that doesn't mean that you can.

    not4hire Thanks this.
