I have "special" technology in my truck currently. It kindly and gently "BUZZES" in your ear when you drift out of a lane, left or right. Sometimes on a windy night I am serenaded to deafness by the left right loud buzz of technology helpfulness.
But, the very pinnacle of helpfulness comes from this oh so extra special feature that is suppose to wake you up when you nod off. Conceptually awesome I suppose. It's loud in my left ear...so loud I might be able to blame it's helpfulness on my future special hearing aid. But, forgiving this little 'wonderful' noisy device its eardrum piercing feature...it tends to go off after I've had a five hour energy, been staring straight ahead for an hour, and haven't even approached my chest with my chin in the slightest.
On the other hand, after I've driven for 7.6 hours after having waited up at a shipper all day, after having slept all night before arriving at shipper, after having to drive all night to make the cons, after being so tired I'm slapping myself in the face, stomping my feet, and have most definitely 'nodded off'...not a peep.
Wonderful technology at work.foggy Thanks this. -

The Insurance company is responsible for the cameras in my place of driving employment.... If they install them, the insurance rate goes down....
I AGREE That they ARE used to hold stuff against drivers, especially the ones that someone in safety or management doesn't like. Driver on my fleet; 2million safe miles, 20 years driving for same company, o/o AND company driver was told he was statically a high risk of killing someone and new drivers only damage property. (Although I agree a bit with that, seems the older some get in this profession, the riskier they become) I disagree with using them to justify to the owner why they need to be fired. (Our driver called head of safety a #####, so naturally he got a camera and she went to "work").....born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -

Before I retired one company was installing driver facing camera's and once we installed them you would be hard pressed to even know it was there. Traffic manager said they wanted to make sure their drivers weren't using their cell phones while driving. To me that was a true invasion of privacy. It's funny how post notes can get stuck on things.

Crete / Shaffer do not have any cams, or voice recorders in trucks for drivers in good standing. I have heard that if you screw up, but not bad enough to get fired, that you will get a camera in the truck, but I have not seen that as an official statement, or spoken to a driver that can confirm.
