man i am worried
I got to work, got paperwork, hooked up with no drama, drove slowly (i was early, i knew my meet was goign to be late, he told me so) (68mph, slowly, hahahahahahah), heck barely even passed anyone, showed up, took my 30, dude showed up at minute 28, drove back.
I think it was my least drama day EVER as a truck driver.
then I slept and the animals all know it's a full moon and were insane all day.
still it does occasionally happen, now i"m really worried for monday night.![]()

Funny thing about that. Seems like every time I rearrange the load in order of geographical expediency, which is my primary consideration, I always manage to gain an extra skid spot.

I have tried to tell the morons at my terminal this until I was blue in the face but they just somehow cannot grasp the concept of the time I waste in the morning waiting for my trailer to get loaded is time I will not have to get deliveries off or get time sensitive pickups. I gave up. If the genius office pukes want to be stupid there is nothing I can do about it. I just go out and follow their ####ty routing and do what I can. I am just a dumb driver, what could I possibly know about routing stops in an efficient order to get everything off?

Yep. This is some grade A truth right here. Sad but true.

For the most part, I'd agree, but for me personal pride is a powerful motivator.

Ditto. Non LTL here, but still.... Ditto.MACK E-6 Thanks this.

Being one of about 3 guys who possess that quality out of about 65 peddle drivers is a pretty tough position.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Story of my life. We used to have a early and lead driver who got equal stops and everyone finishes on time. Due to our lack of manning, I am now the lone late driver that rolls into town at 11 AM with 23 deliveries and 10 pickups. It is an extremely stressful and chaotic experience when you hustle and manage to get a bit of breathing room and all of a sudden three more pickups get added on.misterG Thanks this.

I agree, having personal pride is important with the job that we do. But their lack of planning and inability to get more help turns into an emergency on my part, it isn't fair to me.
I also pride myself that can get the job done and have virtually no returns or missed pickups that I am at fault at. But I am starting to get to a point where I am burned out because of a cluster#### that is created each day by someone else.
If you want me to run 35+ stops a day, I want to be out the door by 8 AM so that I can set a reasonable pace. Six stops an hour is over double what our company expects of us on a corporate level.
