Sitting in SLC Utah and reading about the accident on Hwy 80 last week where a CRST truck shut down on the shoulder to sleep and a Swift Truck rear ended him..

Why the hell would anyone stop on the shoulder of hwy 80 to take a nap? Why not on an exit, or a truck stop? Hwy 80 across Wyoming has more places for a truck to stop than on the shoulder of highway?

Don't people know you will die!! If you park on the shoulder of hwy 80? This is how most fatalitys that I have seen happen on that hwy..

Anyway that is my rant for the night.. lol

CRST drivers are not very well trained, I had one several years ago ask me how to scale a load, his trainer didn't show him how. But you're right, there are so many places to park on 80, even if you have to be creative, it can be done.

IMG_1089.JPG Long day today.. My potato load for AWG had 2 stops the first In Idaho falls for 1 pallet (lol) then back down to American Falls for 18 more..

Was kind of strange.. lol usally it's a split load or all at the same place, 1st time stopping for a pallet.. oh well all pays the same..

Look what Calab had made for me:

Love it when that happens. At Monson and Sons, we get 2 days off for every 7 on, most of us are out 2 wks, home for 3 or 4 days, it's up to us, and then back at it again.:)

I guess I'm lucky that we don't have any out requirements to be home. Like I know one guy who has been out for 3 months, he just likes being on the road.. Then guys like me, who have family can more or less get home when we want or need..

I have vacation at the end of July, and then a few other days in August, never any questions asked, just told to have fun and enjoy..

Always feels good to point her home, the truck gets a break, and you get a break from the truck. :)
