reminds me of the guy here in nj that works for irt and puts a beam antenna up on the truck on his off duty time.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
They call that a BINGO those numbers.lilillill Thanks this.

At what frequency was it resonant when you had it mounted there? If you couldn't find a resonant frequency that tells me that you had a ground issue that needed to be looked at.BTShepp Thanks this.

An antenna that is too long is inductive and needs capacitance to bring it into resonance (where capacitive reactance exactly cancels the inductive reactance, leaving only resistance).
An antenna that is too short is capacitive so it needs inductance to bring it into resonance.
I thought you said the antenna was too long?Last edited: Aug 27, 2017

See this post... 102" antenna failrabbiporkchop Thanks this.

I'd say that reactance has something to do with how the antenna is mounted and something to do with the RF ground potential of your chosen mounting location. I'm sure there's a way to make it work the way you had it mounted before.

I got a new trailer and it doesn't have that grab bar in the front, so I'm back to square one. The whole reason for mounting it up on the trailer was to get it up higher.
I'll have to figure out a different way to mount it. -
I think its partly what its mounted to and the length of the coax..
Lililil you didnt say where it was reso ate,not where swr is..
Your resonance is - 7. Something...Maybe try without the 10" shaft and see.. -
I didn't have it up for very long. It was threatening to storm... lightning flashing so I took it down. Anyhoo... got a different trailer now so I'm going to try something different.
