Keep Truckin' App. Anyone using it?

So far you're the only person claiming to have their cell phone hooked to truck.

 

I have no idea if anyone uses this but here is what appears to be a bluetooth dongle to make your phone an ELD.



I use a similar dongle to read the diagnostic codes and real time data from my vehicles with my cell phone. Real handy for troubleshooting and way cheaper than the full device.

Sounds like it is an option to me.

 

It may be my phone, but my other apps seem to be aware of my location, mostly. A cell phone's GPS is not exactly high quality in most cases, it cost the manufacturer next to nothing and then was shoved into a tiny package with other higher priorities in mind.

I have sent an email but haven't heard back yet.

 

2014 the supreme court said that^. The plain view doctrine still holds true. So lets say the app some how got closed and there behind it is txt's that happen while driving. Perhaps a msg pops up while he's looking at the log. You're nailed. Let's not forget you handed the phone to the officer to begin with, the expectation of privacy changes, you just gave the officer access to something he had no legal right to.

 

I just got a non-responsive email from Keep Trucking which did not address any of the questions that I asked.

But they did, however, tell me that sometimes truck drivers change trucks and that having the internet connected to the phone is helpful. So there was that.

 

Missouri bear told me he wasn't aloud to touch my phone to see the logs, "He could drop it" and he didn't want the email logs either. The gps portion of the app reporting the wrong location isn't the app fault it's the phone. When mine tells me I'm somewhere I'm not, the weather is wrong and so is my tracking app.

Was having a connection issue (phone to printer) once after updating my phone. I was told to to get them to print or I'm going to be sitting for 10

I've been in KS. the gps said I was LA, 3 mins later I was in TX.

 

Guess you haven't heard of jj kellers elog. Tens of thousands of them in use. Heck there is about 1500 of us just at mercer using them. the rest of the fleet went with the more expensive qualcomm elog.

 

Not sure about other systems but jj keller has an inspection mode. once set nothing else on the device can be accessed, only the last 8 days of logs,and it prevents any other apps from popping up on the screen including incoming calls. Once the officer hands it back to me i have to insert my password to return it to normal.

 

My cousin using KeepTrucking app, he loves it. Says its simple and its good enough for DOT.
