    As an owner operator, how hard is it to find jobs for delivering stuff? It seems like it could be difficult given you are competing with large companies who have an edge on the market

    Depends on where you are at any given moment. Extremely hard to find good local freight paying enough to get by is my experience

    If everyone was paid the same (Non free market) You couldn't get in the biz without connections..

    Since its a Free Market- You are Needed!!

    Yes Sir, Freight Brokers-Forwarders,3pl's NEED you Real Bad to Move Freight-Real Bad-

    Once you learn the Business on Rates- You will Not be Needed anymore.......

    Aw Well..... I Wish I Had Better News for ya- Talk to Hoffa's Great Grandkids- They Might Regulate the Industry again- where everyone will be Even again.

    Eggplant first you must get a CDL. Then drive and broke somebody's transmission/trailer/door/rear bumper. After few mounts of driving you are allowed to think of buying a truck and finding loads :)

    Well obviously I need a CDL first, I was just curious about what the market is like being an owner operator. Overall I think I would prefer working for a company anyway, let someone else do all the business stuff :D

    think of those mega carriers like a walmart. think of the (competent) O/O (the real ones,y'know,independant) as the old local hardware store with the old guy that's owned it for decades. which one do you go to when you need stuff to get something done?
