Agreed.
However there has been far too much of this going in here lately, and it is starting to get out of hand.
For example, I don't know squat about tankers, but you don't see me in their section making accusations or statements regarding things I know nothing about. And if I did, I would fully expect to be blasted, not protected for it.
For some reason it has become an accepted practice in this section, and I would like it to be stopped before the unpleasant conversation.
Because we all know I'm not scared to have it.
Is this correct?

There are holes in that load for example under the front bumper, I expect more chains and binders coming to and from it.
If you have not been taught or trained formally in securement, this is not the time to be learning by coming up short on securement.
I hate to be difficult. I generally throw everything on a load. Even if it takes a little more time.SheepDog Thanks this. -
I agree for the most part, except the video in public part. No one is required to get your permission to video you in public. Something like that should be kept in mind if you put your securement on but hidden for "entertainment value". When I worked for the crane company they stressed that people were interested in us and like to take pictures so we should keep that in mind.HighCountry, Dye Guardian, SheepDog and 7 others Thank this.

How are you going to sue someone for doing something perfectly legal?
-
Ok
Wow! As you can tell by looking at the "blurry"photograph I cropped out every identifying thing on the truck or trailer.I guess asking questions ain't such a good idea on this forum. I just thought something that's probably over 50,000 pounds you should have some chains pulling backwards. I have heard of something called the 80/ 50/ 20 rule that heavy haulers are supposed to use. Maybe that's a myth. -
Do you drive truck? Do you pull open deck?
-
I don't have a problem with the cropping, blurry photo etc. Many cameras stamp a Geo Data onto the picture taken in which it is contained within the original image online when hosting services get that data. The new ones anyhow. I strip that data out when I take a copy of that photo with paint and save it as some file like Jpg or whatever. What's left is the IP uploading source.
I don't see anything overtly criminal with the exception of too few chain, I mean good lord I don't think everyone has G100 chains on hand all the time for the biggest loads. I made do with roughly half inch or even 5/8 or whatever. There is a massive thread somewhere in TTR in which the entire flatbed world debated this size vs that size and so forth some time ago.
Anyhow. I feel more should have been put on. Any way you can get it on there. I also feel that installing chain in just one direction against a impact from the front is futile. You can generate massive amounts of G in such a situation, that load is simply going to get loose when it becomes a momentarily 450K weight breaking away... when expressed in G forces imposed on it during a full impact stop accident. -
Where did you buy your 5/8" chain?
-
An a30 only has 6 tie down spots. Where would you place more chains? Or would you throw straps over the top?
-
DO NOT misinterpret what I said.
The perfectly legal was NOT you!
The "What is oversize?" that YOU publicly questioned was perfectly legal.
Your videos and the commentary they contain clearly demonstrate that you DO NOT have the skills/knowledge/understanding to be publicly questioning in an accusatory fashion.Roger McG, IH Truck Guy, Scottyboy and 7 others Thank this.
