Not near as tacky as the Averitt outfits. At least Walmart has somewhat form-fitting and semi-professional looking shirts.

.40 cpm in Wyoming. Doesn't Crete have a terminal in Wyoming? They pay fresh meat more then that.

Around here in the NW I see craigslist ads. all the time in the .50-55 CPM for solo drivers with a year experience.

40¢ per mile is adequate. However, the main question is, will this company get you the miles?

Eh, I consider .50 training wages.

.50 in 2001 works out to top pay. Accounting for inflation it's still the same as .25 a mile in the 80's For every increase I had from .20 to .48 or so roughly inflation slowly ate it up.

Im thinking a good company will pay you a fat salary regardless of miles. Call it 1500 net after taxes each week. That will make your trucking worth while and profitable. No more job hopping too.

Mileage pay for experienced driver should be past .75 and approaching that dollar. otherwise why are we even doing this?

I started in 2005 for .45 per mile. Never worked for less. Companies pay what they have to pay. You don't have to except it. As an Owner Operator with my own authority, I work now for minimum of $2.00 per mile. Of course that is before cost come out. Still, if I was paid by the mile, I would be making about 18 cpm.

Any experienced driver can get more money per mile. but at what cost?

Some want more miles, but more per mile means squat if you have less miles.
Some want better home time, but that is iffy at best if you live in the wrong area.
And then some are pressured into running dangerously long hours to make those extra miles and money.

I'm very sure I could make more cpm than I do where I'm at.
But it would likely mean a loss of control on my part, and to my detriment.

I don't know about the PNW. $.40 is unheard of in utah. If you're working for the locals. Might be different with the nationwide companies.
