Time for a role call folks, who signed on with Crete because of this thread?[/quote]
Crete was one of two on my list, but this thread (thanks to ET) slammed it home!!! So give ET a couple gift cards at the Pilot and a recruiting bonus, he deserves it, plus he is making Crete look good even when things arent so rosey.
ET, are you the recruiter I talked to? LOL

Evertrucker has made me think Crete is the best way to go.
Evertrucker has shown you can do it right and legal with a good, not perfect company. Crete isn't the best thing since slice bread, but they aren't paying you 26 cents a mile to deal with the same stuff everyone else is dealing with or worst.
Thanks -
Does anyone know whats going on with Shaffer lately, I was put in a blue truck about a month ago and have noticed more Shaffer trucks pulling Crete trailers than Shaffer trailers. And last week when at the Marietta yard it looked like a Shaffer trailer bone yard. Only thing I can figure is they must be losing a ton of business and it seems to have happened when they moved the Shaffer ops to Lincoln. I wasn't as lucky as ET was when he got his blue truck, no APU for me.

You was put in a blue truck or chose the blue truck?
Either way i hope its just the time of season, Just went into the New Kingston yard and a crap load of trucks there also...maybe that 07 is closer then i think it is

I am a student driver, and I am looking to work for Crete. They do take new graduates; that is, if you are from an approved driving school.

Greetings Y'all.
I know that there use to be a large bunch of freight out of the NE from Hershey. They say (Shaffer drivers I've talked to) that a bunch of the Hershey operation has moved out of the area, and along with it, the jobs. The last time I spoke to any Shaffer drivers, they were being hit harder than I was...Which made me glad I chose the Red truck, not the Blue truck.(sounds like a line from the "Matrix" doesn't it) Shaffer being down worse than us is a bit strange, you can put almost anything in a reefer trailer, reefer freight or not... Usually the reefer companies don't experience as much of a slowdown as the dry. But who can predict anything the way the trucking/freight world is going these days.
I do remember the name of the 'mystery man' in our management pow-wow. His name was Jeremie (director of Company Fleets) I even have one of his biz cards....Geeeez, I'm getting senile...I didn't even remember I had his card until I dropped my little load notebook.
This APU is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I hadn't expected the heater to work this good. A friend works for the old CFI... he said they had the bunk heaters w/o APU's and said it had 2 settings, roast and broil. Thankfully ours work much better. And I was surprised once I got my truck back Saturday. I received a load offer. 2 stop, Cleveland, OH and Greensburg, PA (Pittsburgh area). Yea, I know Pa.... But I was trying to get home by this next weekend, so I can head back out before Turkeyday. I have vacation planned for the week around Christmas...don't wanta be a holiday hog. I was expecting Cali... A lot of the drivers I talk to that have a newly installed APU get sent out there soon after. This time of year, freight is usually slow out of Neb...I was grateful to be rolling under anything this weekend....And it would be easier to get headed towards FL out of PA rather than CA.... Holy Mackerel, could it be... Things might be looking.....uhhhh wait, I won't say it.... Knowing my luck.
Uh oh, I'm leaning towards that creepy side again.....look out.
Don't throw anyone under the bus for Crete bringing my attitude up in a meeting... I think of it as sorta' an intervention.... G.A. (gripers anonymous....except no "hi, I'm Snackbar, and I am a Griper".... Group says: "hi snack....welcome, glad your here" ...and no group hug at the end...thankfully)
ET I have a question, where did you park your microwave? I am trying to get things planned out and cant figure where a microwave would sit safely.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 17, 2008
