ok today was a very fun day not. Let’s start this off by I went to the dot doctor today to get my medical card renewed and that did not went so well. I pass all the test and everything I gave the doctor my sleep study two of them and a print out of the use of my cpap Machine that is when the problem start. It was under 70% use because my sleep doctor told me not to use it and had it written down that he order me not to use it. I am paraphrasing what the dot doctor told me that she did not give a #### what he had down because it was under 70%. I just don’t understand why would he have me do that if I would not pass at all because of that.

That sounds like lawyer territory. However, if your personal doctor said not to use the machine, it is very likely that the DOT doctor still has every right to note you being out of compliance.

If you cannot safely use the machine 90% of the time, that may mean you can no longer drive, no matter what your personal doctor says.

Again. Smells like lawyer territory, and I have suspicions that you will not appreciate what that lawyer tells you after you explain what happened.

Thanks I just don’t understand the he said she said. She also did not like the sleeping pills he put me on. The sleeping pill that he put me on is a controlled substance and she was like wow why would he put you on that because he responsible if I get into a crash if that was the problem.

You can lose weight, have surgery to get rid of the sleep apnea, your doctor can say you're cured and don't need it.
But if you want to keep your med card, you have to use the cpap machine and show them the records that you're using it,
It sucks, but thats the way it is,

There are no guide lines/regulation pertaining to OSA.

It begins to sound like your personal doctor may not understand the regulations you are subject to as a professional driver. You may need to look for a new personal doctor with experience serving professional drivers.

I told him pacifically that I am a commercial driver and deals with other drivers that have sleep alpha to. The one thing that kind of trouble me was the dot doctor could not understand the sleep report at all. I thought that they have to know that kind of stuff

Here’s the best sleep apnea abuse story I’ve ever seen.

Because one is your personal Doctor who would not be so worried about your driving and the other is a DOT Doctor who's job is to make sure you are medically safe to drive.

Seems like if your claiming you don't have sleep apnea anymore you would need a sleep test that proves it. Then you could take that to DOT physical doctor and be on you way

I noticed my sleep doctor would say thing like he was the one who decided if I could drive or not. My sleep doctor would say just bring this paper that he would sign that say I'm good to drive. The DOT physical doctor would say he needs to see the a sleep report from the CPAP before he would sign off. Both doctors are like in a power struggle of who gets to decide. So now just get sleep report and let the DOT physical guy look at it and if he's happy I'm good to go.
