Is this where the majority of truckers park? I believe i read somewhere maybe on this forum a guy said he avoids parking at truck stops whenever possible to shut down. Is that possible to avoid parking at truck stops most of the time?
Only parking at truck stops and Walmarts?

I guess it depends on HIS driving situation. I park at truck stops the majority of times, some of our customers have on-site parking (awesome!!!), and I use rest areas on occasions. In the 18 years since I was last OTR I notice it seems fuel pumps are the preferred parking place to park for everything except fueling. Back in the day the majority of slackers parking at the pumps parked in the pull-ahead position. Now the majority of slackers park at the actual fuel pumps with a growing number parking at the "waiting to get to the fuel pump" position. I can hardly wait to see what the next innovation in lazy/stupid will be. Their already blocking the entrance/exits. I guess the only place left are intersections and on top of the buildings.6thGodFam, addrenjunky, Tb0n3 and 8 others Thank this.

Not sure on that, but I do know a lot of guys will try not to park at the truck stop, because most of the little boys that comes in think they are at the race track and cannot drive to save there own life, so to avoid getting your truck trash driver are trying not to park there1johnb, 6thGodFam, HalpinUout and 1 other person Thank this.

What other places are good alternatives besides a truck stop and walmart?

I almost always avoid truckstops, since most have become a bastion for imbeciles as of late. Most of my company’s customers allow overnight parking, so I usually just crash there. It’s almost always quieter than a truckstop, it’s a guaranteed place to park, and it gives you more time to drive the next day. If your customer allows overnight parking, utilize it!

I always preferred truck stops when I was otr so I would have a shower before bed and good coffee in the morning. I kept instant coffee in the truck for emergencies though. And I always kinda liked sitting back and watching all the truck stop antics unfold into the night. Lol, good times.
That said, there are truck stops out there that I wouldn't set foot in no matter how bad I need a shower, but that is just something you learn about as you go.6thGodFam, HalpinUout, BigBob410 and 1 other person Thank this. -
