HUH? Do you know what a radar gun is? It is not like it prints out stone tablets certifying that truck did that speed. The police report will read, " the officer witnessed __ said speed on his radar gun." Don't ever think that a police officer is above lying.

Only the witness report of the officer.

The radar calibration is just a technicality that the defense can use. Many officer don't actually do it and just write up a description of doing it in the stop report to defend the technicality.

I am not defending the OP or his story. Not saying one way or another. It is just ignorant to think a police officer would never lie.

With all the bad publicity with the police out there one would think they'd be on their best behavior? Don't all police these days have to have mobile camera's which they can use as evidence so if you say accused them of bad behavior they could say look what he's saying is false. Something tells me sooner rather than later there's going to be a real battle going on with all the attention building up to many injustices taking place with the police basically getting away with everything just like they did with Rodney King back in 1992. and nothing has really changed except now they just shoot their victims so they can't testify.

Lot of good a camera did that guy that got yanked out of his truck and his head bashed in live on national television by the locals. The one dude even striking a " I scored " pose, one leg in the air after bludgeoning the guy.

The Rodney King tape did an awful lot of good for Rodney King.

Any recomendations for good companies that will overlook this?..I had used this as a reason to retire basically and drive locally...outfit i ran for briefly liked me well enough to consider me for rehire but then they saw the ticket and denied it...thats how this whole thing got sideways jobwise...i will NOT go to Western Express ...and oddly enough SWIFT will not hire me based on just this ticket...and THAT is bottom of the barrel right there

End result for the day...I paid $100 to see if a lawyer could help in consultation...got in contact with a lawyer in the same county of the ticket...basically even though it says i have 60 or 90 days to appeal the reality is its 30 days...the ticket was paid "under duress" (threatened with suspension of license if not paid)...and I even got a 2nd opinion...from another lawyer in the same area of Indiana...guy has been a traffic lawyer for 35 years...and he said no matter how much i paid to get it reduced or dismissed...it would not go away...so basically i was screwed...and out $100 extra in addtion to $180 for ticket

I worked as a cop in three different departments. My first chief was arrested for hit and run DUI. Second department had a few guys arrested, one for statutory rape. Third dept had one arrested for sodomy to an underage child, several for extortion or other money related crimes.

When it comes to law enforcement, the cops that do well typically are corrupt. The ones who get arrested pissed off the wrong person. The ones who move up usually don't have much of a backbone and do whatever is asked to get ahead. It's my estimation that 60 percent of cops or more are corrupt. In small towns it's even worse.

It's common to read where an "officer of the year" was arrested . Most cops with attitudes are people who were picked on in high school and being a cop is their revenge. There are still a few good ones there that actually care, but with little accountability the bad ones seem to be able to do what they please. That's why I advocate recording your interaction because a cop will not hesitate to lie because he knows people will trust him due to his position.

OP, keep looking for small companies. Your ticket appears to be 15 over, not good, but not unhireable. I have friends who were fired for 19 over last year, he has found two jobs since then. Good luck.

I'm not surprised to hear this out of Indiana ..they are broke and we are easy money .
They're latest money grab also is what they deem to be improperly mounted devices on the windshield .

$180 for 15 over? That's like the most lenient fine in the history of the world.

I got a ticket for illegal left hand turn like 10 or 11 years ago while I was driving a cab. I talked to an attorney that said he may get it dismissed, but he wanted $1500 up front, and said it would drag out for 6 months or more.

Think my fine for illegal turn was like $230.

    $180 for wreckless driving?

I mean when I was 18, that's 34 years ago, I massed 18 wreckless / exihibition of speed citations in less than a year. The first one started at $380 and they went up from there.
