I'd take it back to the place where it was serviced and explain the symptoms. If it's not running right, then they either need to do more work, or they did something wrong.
-
thank you they have it and have no clue whats wrong
-
Sounds to me like you didn't have the flywheel resurfaced or replaced. Flywheel is warped.
Grubby Thanks this. -
had it resufaced also
-
Could someone have told you it was done when it actually wasn't? Sounds like a visit to a second shop is in order...
Grubby Thanks this. -
Ok, well, I've had clutches that may have had a little oil or even a sticker that wasn't removed from the disc. Freightliner's ( and International's) are notorious for rough engagement. Pete and KW are like butter compared to a Freightliner, not sure why that is. I drove a Freightliner cabover, that there was absolutely no friction point. It was either in or out, like a dog clutch. The truck would jump like a rock star. Trying to back in somewhere with that truck was no fun.

For future reference, you can take out a Solo and put in a regular style adjustable clutch.
As for your problem, did you remove the flywheel and resurface it? -
New or re-built clutch ?
I quit using re-man ones, had a few problems there.
What rating clutch ?
Possible you need a higher capacity clutch.
And do check the re-surfacing . -
I went through 2 clutches on my Western Star, and I'm not a clutch abuser ( quite frankly, I rarely used it) both times, the springs in the disc broke. The 3rd time, I told them to stick these reman's where the sun doesn't shine. Guy said, well, you can go with a "springless" disc, it'a bit rougher engagement, but all the "extreme duty" trucks use them. I said, lay it on me brother, why didn't you tell me about that 2 clutches ago. I suppose they wanted to make some money 1st. Never had a problem again.
