Where can I work and what kind of freight do I have to haul to gross $5000 per week?

Do you realize that's $20k a month? Or $240k a year? Go be a doctor... actually I understand a few O/O make that much gross bit certainly not net - what's the net an O/O can make @Chinatown ?

Or let's think about it in mileage terms

$5k / week at $2.50 / mile is 2,000 miles so maybe I overreacted but certainly you either go O/O or else have a small fleet. Question is can you get 2,000 miles at $2.50/mile week in, week out throughout the course of a year? Some others will have to pipe in here. From what I've seen on some free load boards $2.50 consistently can be tough unless you're doing a fair bit of deadheading.

Yall do realize I said "gross", right? Revenue to the truck as an owner operator… Not paid company driver miles.

That would be a stretch running under another's authority or broker freight, even with your own authority. I know spot rates have been up, but you cannot count on that lasting long. If you're wanting to get those types of rates constantly than you need contract rates and lanes with your own clients. A real trucking business.

Easy, I average that myself off the freight boards each week. Pay close attention to where you go as some areas are dead zones that will require a lot of DH (Denver, Florida, Massachusetts). What type of Freight are you looking for? I pull a flat and typically average less than 12% DH. This helps me with a current 30 day rolling average of $2.53 on ALL miles.

I guess also I was basing my comment on a week being five working days... I agree it's doable but you are at the mercy of the spot market which has its highs and lows.
