Resting with the bears

A lot allow it,the one's that don't usually have a no overnight parking sign posted.

 

Trucker rule #1: You never ever NEVER pull into a weigh station voluntarily.

There are just some drivers that haven't learned the rules yet.

 

It's not so much the trouble... it's considered a huge liabiltiy financially on my end. What I usually do in a really bad time where I have a need to stop, I'll pay the man a visit in his coop and emphasize I am fixing to take a small patch of his lot way in the back near the bypass exit lane to get my sleep safely. I aint had a problem yet. I try to take pains to have fresh coffee and something for the man come morning or when I finish my time so I get the bypass and leave. It's really rare for me to do that. However it's been done, no problems.

It's either going to be Kentucky or Tennessee after I have done battle in the Appalachians, Kentucky is the better of the two because they encourage the so called safe haven program at their scales so I would run in Ky before TN. To this day I don't understand why the small hills and gaps in the east takes alot of work compared to the yuge Sierras, Rockies and Cascades which are really no trouble, more of a endurance problem than the east.

 

I think most allow it if not you'll probably see orange cones or barrels at the entrance.I've never parked at a weigh station I would keep on going till I found a rest area or truckstop.

I avoid it at all costs too but I keep an eye out and try to remember which one's aren't open alot just in case I do need a place to crash for the night. Always have the fear of waking up and a cop waiting there to point out an infraction on the truck that is wrong lol

 

Rest areas and coops are great places to wake up to an inspection

 

Florida is one that I can think of that considers truckers coming in for their rest breaks as off limits to inspection.
North Carolina will give you a parking ticket for parking in there.
Most states you can pull past the scale area and do you break. I usually split all my breaks 8/2 so I would do the 2 portion at a weigh station and be gone before too long anyway.
