My experience with this company goes something like this. They posted a local job and I applied. Did a phone interview and everything seemed good. They said two day orientation in Columbus Ohio and I agreed. When I got there it was a little hole in the wall crappy building... not looking good. There are four drivers plus myself in this orientation call.
They proceed to nit pick everyones employment information and medical records beyond what any of us had every seen. We have worked for all of the largest companies that do things by the books and non of us ever seen a company so insane with their requirments.
At one point a driver for the company came in the orientation room and told us all to run away from the company... red flag two for me... any ways I came all this way so I figured I'd see it through to the end. We all have to submit some kind of insane paperwork to verify employment. At the end of the second day they informed me it would be one more day (total of 3 days) and that they this was normal and I should have expected it... Why they posted a two day orientation is beyond me.
So I decide to give them one more day as they make it sound like my drug test will be in 10 am and I'll be in my truck going home for the weekend... ok great. So I come in at 10am... and no one else showed up. Every other driver (4) all quit after the second day of orientation but I had gotten a rental car from them so I couldn't leave as easily as those who drove themselves. Then they say no we won't get it until at least noon... ok so I come back at noon... another hour... then another hour... then ohh it's friday won't be in until monday. Mind you this is for a local home every night job... and it was only supposed to be a two day orientation has now turned into 5+ days.
So I tell them that's not what was advertised and I asked for a rental car to go home as they got me a rental car to get there. They refused and said why would they pay for the rental car. RUN RUN RUN away from this company. We need less people like this in the industry not more! I will say they seem to pay well if you can put up with the managment.
P.S. they also, at the end of the second day, informed me that I had to pay them $50 for a lock for the truck... or else they wouldn't hire me... and of course I forgot to return it in my haste to leave... a total scam of a company. RUN RUN RUN RUN away!!!! Please I don't want to see others quit there jobs, spend good earned money and their time on this horrid company.

I have seen what you describe in your post before. I think they use a form of "weeding" by utilizing this process. If they aren't entirely sure about your motivation, they wait you out and then you quit. The Army certainly uses this process in advanced programs with a few differences. Strike it up to an expensive lesson learned. However, I don't see this as a reflection on you, but as you pointed out, a testiment to poor management. At least in the Army the soldier remained part of the force structure, where this company had no net gain.

A lot of these companies need to be thought of as pressure (a heaviness, if you will).
The longer you're around them, the more pressure (heaviness) you feel. You'll end up talking to it if you're not careful.
Most guys get up in the morning with a "Great morning to be alive!". You'll get up with a somber "Hello Heaviness", at which time it responds back with:
"You're going to get it good today... You'll be drinking early today..."
That's when you know you've waited too late to leave!Broke Down 69, Uncle Bernie, Dominick253 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Did you see what that Barr Nunn driver did when he got into an altercation with another driver over a parking spot a few days ago? He shot him then committed suicide.. that tells me that things are very stressful for some of their drivers... at least in my eyes... so sad...

Wow! The president of Barr-Nunn sent a fleet message over Qualcomm Tuesday ,saying some incident that occurred at a truck stop in KY was being investigated by company and will provide info as needed concerning this but have not heard anything. After seeing these posts, I googled shooting in Walton, KY and got the story. Indeed very sad.
