I am thinking about applying at Swift. I am wondering how far off the drive line you can go to hit the store.
I am also wondering what problems you can get for parking in a medium parking lot not a big one like Wal Mart or Meijer.

I have a few more questions for any trucker that I just thought of. Is it allowed to leave a generator outside of the truck for about an hour to power a toaster oven?
And is it allowed to carry one in a Swift truck? I guess I should ask a Swift representative about that.tnevin225 Thanks this. -
If you are looking for driver comforts look somewhere other then Swift.
There are companys with fridge, inverters, apu's but Swift ain't one. -
TransAm is a good 2nd chance company & hires drivers with problems in their background. Don't need generator because all trucks have APU:
Free DIRECTV
TransAm is pleased to provide DIRECTV in our trucks at no charge to our drivers! The package includes a 24" flat screen TV, DVR and access to more than 100 channels including the NFL Sunday Ticket and HBO. We are always on the lookout for ideas to improve the quality of our driver's lives on the road and we hope this service is a great benefit for our drivers.
As a company driver, you will have access to great equipment including the Kenworth T680 equipped with the PACCAR MX engine which is fuel efficient, environmentally friendly and very quiet. All trucks have automatic transmissions which mean less fatigue in traffic, a safer, smoother ride, and great fuel mileage. All trucks have condo cabs, dual bunks, refrigerators, CD players, Auxiliary Power Units, inverters and are satellite radio-equipped. At their option, Independent Contractors who wish to lease a tractor through ONE Leasing will have access to this same great equipment.

While I am not a Swift (nor will I ever be), most companies don't allow drivers to carry/use personal generators on company trucks. If they didn't have a problem with it, and you carried one, you would have to keep it outside since it has it's own fuel supply onboard, and you can't store gasoline inside a passenger compartment...even under the bunk in a side box is still considered the passenger compartment since there isn't an air tight seal.

What about propane generators?
-
If you buy an inverter, will they install it for you? Or will they allow you to have it installed? The guy might have a thing for Poptarts. They dont have any weird children in their ads like the competition.Chinatown Thanks this.

Better ask the Swift recruiter. Remember, Swift merged with Knight and is now under Knight management. That was big news not too long ago. Google: Swift-Knight merger
