I think he's asking about the heavy tow certification. Must be certified to run a heavy tow truck/rotator like a crane operator must be certified as well.

I’m guessing it’s right up there with “certified with 13 speed”
-
And certified "sail boat fuel" endorsement.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
This is a certificate you earn in a two year apprenticeship program through Roehl and one other that I am aware of so just wondering what this and program really does for a person?
-
It could be useful if written on toilet paper.

Seems like it's just a way to keep someone around for 2 years.
Jazz1, slim shady and BigBob410 Thank this. -
Is this the military veteran apprenticeship program? If so then it is likely a requirement of the program that they give you some sort of degree or apprenticeship program. In that case it is nothing more than that, a certificate granted in order to fulfill the requirements of the government program, useful for nothing outside of that.
Don't worry about it. -
I got a cert here and there, all of them has been sitting on the shelf at home. Exactly no employer has asked for or cared about them. It's wasted paper and ink.

I'm going to take a stab at this.
Some companies, like Landstar, will only allow you to pull oversize or overweight loads up to X width and Y weight until you have pulled Z number of loads at those weights and dimensions. After that you can graduate to wider, taller, and heavier loads. Each step of the way you have to pull Z loads to graduate to the next level. Eventually you are certified to pull any dimension and any weight (weights being legal to the axle and tire specifications).
If I am correct regarding Roehl's program, this will qualify you to run HWH (high, wide, and heavy) loads. I don't know if Roehl compensates more for HWH, but they should. If you have the opportunity to do HWH, then jump on that chance. HWH is one of the highest paid positions in the world of trucking. Your experience at Roehl could work into a lucrative gig either at Roehl or wherever you want to go within a few years.Saddleman61, BigBob410 and Dumdriver Thank this.
