But it's something else he'd better be ready to wait on. There's a reason drivers get paid per mile, with only some of their waiting time paid for, if they're paid for waiting at all. Waiting is a big part of it.

You should be getting layover pay. Ask for contact info for your assigned trainer. If there isn't one assigned move on. To sue you they have to serve you, good luck with that. If they garnish your wages jump ship and keep jumping. If practical stick it out for six months. You won't have any problem getting a job then. Also spend your time filling out online applications. Particularly look for tuition reimbursement to buy out your contract.

If it gets that bad, fleets will simply modify their trucks so the components causing so much problem are replaceable, and keep lots of them in stock so a service stay becomes a simple equipment swap.

If you go into trucking as a newbie with that attitude, be prepared for ulcers.

You'll have to wait to get loaded.
You'll have to wait to get unloaded.
You'll have to wait for your 10 hours to end if you wake up early.
You'll have to wait on your truck to get repaired while it's in the shop.
You'll have to wait on your 34 hour clock to elapse. Sometimes not at home.
You'll have to wait for service calls.
You'll have to wait on traffic stops for wrecks, construction, or bad weather.
You'll have to wait in line to get fuel.
You'll have to wait for a shower sometimes.
You'll have to wait on getting paid at some places.
You'll have to wait on your next dispatch.
You'll have to wait on your 30 minutes to go by.
You'll have to wait on paperwork.

Shouldn't have to wait for anything? Somebody's dreaming.

My reply we in reference to waiting in a motel for a trainer.
Again it's total bs if you get held longer than the next day.
