I included my 401k number in there which amounts to nearly 4k. Definitely my best year by a long shot. Don't know how much longer I will be pounding the payments so busted ### to stockpile some duckets. Only lost a couple of days due to break down and that kind of worked to my benefit.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Is that common carrier or LTL ? The Abilene guy posted about the same miles at 55k, that’s a big difference

Regular otr with the exception that we haul the company product out of the terminal and back haul other loads that generally get us back to another terminal to repeat. As far as otr is concerned it is a really good gig in comparison to most other otr companies.ArmyGuy Thanks this.

OTR, that pays hub miles at .50 that was raised to .52 per mile. Hub miles make a big difference over what other companies pay...even the ones that pay practical miles.majestyk Thanks this.

Loves in Jackson TN is an ice skating rink. The only driveway is one lane and blocked off and on with trucks being stuck, then towed and the tow truck driver blocking the driveway until he gets paid. I have been here for 34 hours, no snow plows have been seen, 5 or 6 trucks stuck at any given time. Tow trucks charging top dollar though, if one can be found. This lot is going to be a mess the next 48 hours. An older driver and his wife got stuck behind me 16+ hours ago and they are still sitting there. He told me had a heart attack a month ago.
Sixty degrees when I got here, knew the storm was coming and could have made my way west of it without my ELD.
I only have 5,000 lbs of lampshades so I might have to throw a chain on just to get out of here.Last edited: Jan 13, 2018

The Pilot nearby was just as bad. I had to get some fuel, and it took me 90 minutes. Guy with a small ax was chopping a path for a FedEx doubles that got stuck.
Thank goodness I’m done with this crap the end of this week. 20 years is enough.majestyk, mushroom1464, 28 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You finally hanging up the keys? Thought you had decided to stick it out another year or so last I heard.48Packard Thanks this.

I had indeed planned to, but after discussions with my wife, looking at our overall financial picture, and taking into account my ever-decreasing enthusiasm for this profession as a whole (as opposed to the job itself at its root level which I still enjoy), we decided another year would have a negligible positive effect on our lives. The last few DOT physicals were more of a challenge to get through as well, and when everything was considered this was the right decision.Knucklehead, majestyk, 28 and 1 other person Thank this.

Good luck on your new career (referring to the new job of driving your wife crazy from being around all the time.
)
