It's just the way they go about it as well. No notice. Just F you, thanks for coming.
That's wrong. It's not like those people have 10 or 20 U's squirrelled away to get by on, now they'll be scrambling for jobs.
The Walmart drivers that post here have felt the impending doom coming for awhile.
They will get it the same way when the time comes, just F you, thanks for coming.drvrtech77, Opus, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Got no issues with the drivers; Its the corporate business model that's rotten.
Google "The Walmart you don't know."
Looks like they are yesterdays news, America is moving on and shopping with their phone, driving,
and Amazon will soon drop anything on your front porch with drones. Meet George Jetson.
However, for counterpoint, Google, American Intelligence Media, (save it to your favorites,)
then check out Amazon's Jeff Bezos on AIM.Dave_in_AZ and gentleroger Thank this. -
Like the Movie "You want the truth?? You can't handle the truth!!"
A caveat; American Intelligence Media is for awake adults. Your results may vary.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

Amazon FCs(fulfillment centers, or as ya';ll know'm..DCs at lest when I did my time with them in the warehouse. It was repeated a lot during the day..we were a FC not a warehouse..lol) are freaking huge. One I worked at in Coffeyville was huge an it was an older one. We easily walked 15 to 20 miles a day depending on your department. Crisp center, shipping, an receiving not so much. Stowers and Pickers did a lot of the running around. Huge places. Lots of docks. You'll keep fit working there. Heh.
I hear they've gotten bigger since then(2008/09). The places they setup the FC cut them huge tax breaks. Not sure if the same for Walmart. When they left Coffeyville it was big news for the town as they were one of the bigger employers in their part of southeast KS. Next were John Deere and the refinery if I recall correctly.
Sucks for the folks who lost their jobs though. Can't say I'm surprised the big cats got raises and bonuses and their grunts are getting let go. Same ol' song an dance, just a different company.

If you listen to the mainstream media---Wallyworld is giving raises and bonus'----to effect over 1million employees--and at very end they quickly mention--they are closing close to 100 sam's Club stores----don't know how many people work at a Sam's store(since i have personally refused to do biz with Malwart at any level my entire adult life)
But Im sure 100 stores is well more than 1000 employees gone......and there is absolutely no question for anyone that lives in any area that has other options than malwart---you can do better---both in price and QUALITY elsewhere....drvrtech77, shogun and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Did'nt Trump take credit for the raises & bonuses?
I wonder if the need to take credit also applies to the 2000 layoffs. -
I'd say closer to 10,000

It is only 63 under perfoming Sam"s clubs they are closing. And most are in markets where they are built to close to one another. A lot of those employee's will move to another store, so the number of lost jobs is not that great. Of course if you don't move to another store, it suck's to be you.
Walmart is abruptly closing 63 Sam's Club stores and laying off thousands of workersgrabberblue12 and AZ Pete Thank this. -
Nothing unusual about coming to work to find the doors shut. Think about what would happen if all the employees were given two weeks notice. Many businesses do the same thing. Not nice but it is reality.
