Does anybody know why Mercer shutdown the load board that everybody could see. It was kinda handy to see if I should even bother calling when in a certain area.

I know Mack e- 6 was talking about batteries and the CCA back awhile ago in the flatbed threads you may want to send him a pm. He seemed to be very knowledgeable in that subject.TruckerPete1990 Thanks this.

The only way to get more cranking amps is more lead plates. The only way to maker more lead plates fit in the same battery is to make the plates thinner. Thinner plates are more prone to cracking from road bumps and vibrations. So basically ya, more cranking amps equals shorter life.TruckerPete1990 and Highway Sailor Thank this.

No idea as we don't use that one

More cranking amps also means less available energy for house load, so high CCA batteries need to be recharged more often if you are running an inverter, fridge, etc. A dealer once put 900 CCAs on my truck instead of the 700's that came with it and it did crank like a champ but the batteries ran down much faster when the truck was off, forcing the APU to come on more often to charge.
Good luck,
