Actually - if your read the original post, it’s quite a good question, if the reader can extrapolate the replies.
Better than “ I bought an International Prostar with a Maxxforce - where should I lease on?”homeskillet, TallJoe and DieselDrivinDaddy Thank this. -
Slow day on truckers report I have to stir up something. Lame but the best I could do.
BoyWander, TallJoe and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I think it was a smart way to ask if he should remain a company driver or take the plunge
-
Looking back I could not tolerate dispatchers or bosses any more. I mean, anyone telling me what to do. I got spoiled big time. I guess for me there is no way back. Either succeed or fail miserably to the point of becoming Uber driver. They seem to have some independence, at least.

I enjoyed trucking for the same reason - no boss looking over the shoulder.
Then, the mere thought of a boss dismayed me.
Couldn’t go back either. -
I went O/O because
1) I wanted to challenge myself to another level
2) I've always wanted to own my own business
(Turns out the business owns me instead)
3) I had the money, very little personal bills and responsibilities and could justify taking the risk
4) I have a couple of screws loose.
5) I wanted to experience the uniqueness that is the American Entrepreneur. There is nothing in history quite like us. The economy was built on the brains of people like us, and we are the embodiment of the American Spirit. A unique place in history. I never really paid much attention to the economy and how it affects the sole entrepreneur until I became it and now I realize how integral a part of it I am. And I am just one. But the couple million of us together makes up the whole.Bubbahead, homeskillet, Banker and 3 others Thank this. -
Well let me add in my 2 cents, ive been an o/o for more than twenty years I’ve seen the good times and not just bad but the terrible times. 18 years of it “leased” such an ugly word to me only because the company treated as if they owned me and thanks to their new company policy they told me to either update my truck for ELD’s or leave and I’m now an independent and bless them for making me leave! Sad thing is I now see how much money I made them over the years. Just like several others have said, there’s no going back, figure I can always push shopping carts at the local Walmart less stressful too!
Mooseontheloose and BoyWander Thank this.
