Depends who your working for. If it's a company like ODFL or FedEx Freight, you'll still get paid. The other driver didn't catch the error? Then you'll both be in hot water. I take it there's no one to check your numbers as you're leaving the yard.
Here's hoping they cut you a break, and be grateful if they do.
so i goofed today at my job and grabbed the wrong trailer.

Worst part was he was a guy who’d been driving for almost 20 years and had a new guy with him that he was training. He said he never heard of Portland, ME so when he heard Portland he just headed for Oregon lol. Neither of them apparently bothered to check the bills and from Southern IL that’s one hell of an expensive foul up. He was fired and the new guy was written up but kept his job and was obviously put with a new trainer...Steel Dragon and Bob Dobalina Thank this.

Really doesn't matter what they do, worrying about it isn't going to change anything.
You were looking for a job when you found that one right?Steel Dragon, Cardfan89, driverdriver and 2 others Thank this. -
I tried to take a load to Paris once... I never could locate the bridge so I had to turn back. LOL
There are so many examples of cities and towns that would be easy to screw something up. Doesn’t sound like that was the case though for the OP, rather just not double checking the numbers.Steel Dragon, nax and DTP Thank this. -
I would say volunteer to grab the right trailer and get the other one back down there asap. If you're lucky they'll forgive you this onceSteel Dragon Thanks this.

Or hopefully they send a another driver with the right trailer and meet him somewhere to switch and get back on his routeSteel Dragon Thanks this.

when it happened to me, I didnt get but 40 miles down the road before I got a phone call.
how big is your operation?Steel Dragon and gentleroger Thank this. -
Last company I worked for would charge $1.00 / mile and loss of safety/fuel bonus for that month. Of course being on probation I'd inform the company first chance.
They might be more lenient if they don't have to go hunting for the trailer.Steel Dragon Thanks this.
