Unintentional lane change alarm? How in the heck does some sensor or some crap know if I'm intentionally changing lanes? ELD? Welcome to 99 and older exemption. Driver facing cameras? Not freaking happening. We need to not "police ourselves better" but simply half of us stand up and tell them to suck eggs out of a dead chicken. If we keep just giving in to whatever they claim is going to save lives pretty soon we'll all have a probe stuck up our ### so they can check your temp., heart rate, and whatever all else they want.

In my eyes, a safety meeting involves everyone, not just a big wig standing up there and preaching. I can tell you, almost any driver believes he knows everything about safety. With that being said, i would ask any driver to start the meeting with some of his knowledge. (to share) Kinda' like a moderator at a debate. The moderator will reign in the debaters.

Also, if any of your safety meetings turn into video viewing as in safety videos etc, try this. The day before the drivers view said videos, make a video on co property about a safety issue with a co driver, then use that video to show at the meeting. Much more interesting than a produced video by a third party.

Next, you need to do a ride-a-long with a driver, assuming you can start and end in a half a day. Good luck

It is a sensor bolted to the sides of your truck or an "eye" they stick in your windshield that as soon as your truck touches the lines in the road it will send a loud rumble strip sound through your speaker system, left line, left speaker. To avoid the rumble strip sound, simply use the turn signal in that respective direction. Not intending to change lanes but touch the line? No turn signal? The system detects an unintentional lane change and warns the driver to get back in the lane. This is an item the NTSB has on their "Wish List" for commercial drivers. So you know it is just a matter of time before it is mandated by the FMCSA upon all commercial trucks.

Yes the 99 and older trucks are exempt, granted. But for how much longer? Driver facing cameras? NTSB has them also on their "Wish List" to be mandated for all commercial trucks in the U.S.

I agree, truckers' only defense is going to have to get together and unionize to protect ourselves.
