Disclaimer: I am not a driver, nor do I play one on TV. With that out of the way, I work at an EZ Mart truck stop on 59 in East Texas. We have room for several rigs, and recently had 2 heavy haul setups park overnight. Beautiful rigs. Pretty long, too (setup was 3x2x3x2 on both rigs). Anyhow... We have drivers either bypass Love's completely (southbound), or stop before they get to Love's (northbound) for many reasons. We are more than happy to let all drivers come and park for up to 24 hours at a time. (Love's is only 7 miles north of us, if that says anything.)

You probably will end up on the shoulder since you don't have enough sense to park in parking spaces. hopefully deputy dog gives you a right good object lesson when he tells you to move.

Alright I guess this is my trip plan. Get up pre trip, go load, run the wheels off of it, unload and go park. That's a plan!!! Right?!

Park on the offramp at the Love's exit. Do your break there, well most of it. Along about 0400 in the morning or after it should be safe to slow roll into the truck stop and find a parking spot to finish your break.

You say you were unloading from 5 am till 4 pm... unless you were the one in the forklift, should have taken your break right there. Would give you plenty of time to find more suitable parking down the road.

You were parked on someone else's private property in a place that was not a parking spot. There is absolutely nothing you can say that will justify that. You were in the wrong.

Plus, he was in Texas. I have to wonder if he was on a fire lane.

True. But some people just can't wrap their mind around this fact. That said ... that's why I'm a proponent of reserved parking. Lots are going to park stupid every night because they're forced to, but I refuse to be one of them. I will flip my schedule and find the will to drive through the night and perhaps drive tired before I become "one of those guys"

I'm going to end up doing that tomorrow because of an 08:00 unload and a 23:00 reload 150 miles away (no early arrival unless preauthorized and no overnight parking). I don't like it. Maybe they will load early, maybe not. But that's the reality some of us have to deal with. Delivers 2,200 miles away but there's only 3 full days to shift my schedule, and make the Monday noon delivery.
