I work for one of the larger ltl carriers in ATL freight volume has been down. Any other ltl drivers experiencing the same? Everyone keeps saying it's going to pick up but at this point they sound like a broken record .

Ask me if I care. A human life hangs in the balance, and if he'd actually jumped and died, it would have been the express elevator to an eternity in hell. When those are the stakes, you do whatever is necessary, and if dispatch can't figure it out, that ain't your problem.

i have not. i wouldn’t put it past them, they are some ballsy mofos. ive seen them walk into traffic to make a stop, ride on sidewalks, prop their foot on car bumpers and smack hoods etc (in traffic) to get attention.

Some drivers seem to attract trouble through no fault of their own. I used to work with a guy we called Wreck-It-Ralph because he had so many incidents...and was named Ralph. They were all deemed non preventible, though, so he was either a good liar or really unlucky.

Meh.. I got nothing to lose cause I quit my job.

So here is all the crap I got away with...

    1. Dumped three trailers and ripped out three sets of airlines.

    2. Forgot to turn on the valve for my service brake one time and blew out all four tires on my converter dolly

    3. Took out three mailboxes, two trashcans, and a in-ground sprinker system (which blew out a bunch of water)

    4. Side swiped a water pump which blew out a trailer tire (I called it in as a flat... Even though the guys at Les Schwab knew a hole in the sidewall was not a blowout)

    5. Backed a trailer into another trailer, crushing the back trailers glad hands

I should have been fired after #1. But the key is to not get caught. Aside from that, the last 1/4 million miles were accident free .

I saved up about $30k and taking the next six weeks off to spend with my newborn while packing up the house. Considering the crap I went through over the past year, I think I deserve some time not working.

Sebastian Mattis H. Named him partially after our current Secretary of Defense. And man is he a hellraiser.
