I’m in a truck with no APU but I have a CPAP. I bought a 160 watt single outlet inverter. My CPAP uses 80 watts. Do I need to idle to run it or will the batteries (3 of them in the Volvo I think) hold out overnight with no problems?

Silly question, what is CPAP? Like a battery operated ac and heater? I have a 2012 Volvo with a bunk heater webasto. I also run a 2000 watt inverter with a dorm fridge plugged in all the time. When I'm not using the truck for more than a day I umplug the fridge. I believe I have 4 batteries in mine.

Note: my Volvo has a battery shut off in case the batteries get too low for the engine to start. I think you will be ok. I run my webasto and fridge all night and it doesn't beep at me. If it was for 15hrs it might but 10-11 it's good. I have a tv and PS4 but they aren't being used and draining power. Also have a microwave that I run off inverter but I leave truck running to use it than shut the truck off and unplug the microwave.

Hope that helps a little for you!

I'm currently in the process of adding a 3500 watt generator and battery charger/maintainer so I can run all my electronics and my 1500 watt portable a/c during the summer months. Hoping that works well and it won't beep at me. I've seen another guy do it and he hasn't had a problem yet.

CPAP is a device that helps people who have obstructive sleep apnea. It stands for Continous Positive Airway Pressure.

You can buy a 400 watt invertor for around $20. I buy mine from walmart when i was OTR. Replaced em when the fan started getting noisy.

I had a laptop and a tv also.

I'd leave my printer on when parked at home for the weekends. Truck never needed a jump start. But i think it was only 45 watts. Defenitely had 4 batteries.

3 batteries should be fine for overnight. I think all trucks these days have low voltage shutdowns to prevent batteries from going dead. Requiring a jump start.

You'd think somebody would develop a CPAP system that could run safely off a truck's 12 volt dc outlet system given the huge "truck driver market" they have developed.

Call a Volvo dealer to be sure that your truck has autodisconnect power to protect your ability to start the truck.

My guess is you will be fine, but making sure is your responsibility, and Volvo is the best place to get that info.

Another idea that may help is to buy a battery backup box and plug the CPAP into it.
