@cooley525 the chances to get hired with an LTL company are greater than before. Just apply and ignore the experience required. Here's the following companies you can apply.
    Averitt
    Old dominion
    Southeastern
    Saia
    Xpo
    Estes
    Abf
    Central
    Fedex

Good luck driver and keep us informed.

I don't know Charleston very well, but it has a commercial port, so being a port jockey might be doable, but competition will likely be strong. If you don't have an inside contact, getting a local job might be very hard as a new driver.

However, the best way to find out is to call companies with facilities in Charleston and ask them.

Just curious what do they think they will be dealing with before becoming a police officer? Rescuing Mrs Wilson cat out of a tree and helping her cross the street? Lol
