If you're referring to the guy who killed the boy, no - the guy was a complete basket case when hired. I'm sure there were plenty of red flags to support a correct decision to not hire him. They did, and he dragged their already crappy name through the mud again.

The dude that trained me had some stories. He had one tranny with straw hair that cried for almost 3 weeks. Think he was going transgender.
He had another, this is back when we used trip paks, that pulled a knife on him and tossed two trips of trip paks out the window going down the highway. He got out at a Flying J and was subsequently arrested.

My stories of training are chronicalled on here. They are absolutely true, and so F weird you couldn't make the stuff up if you tried.
Tears to your eyes funny, but I actually lived them.

Oh I bet. Anyone who has been associated with trucking (42 years for me) have some stories to tell. My final employer really took the cake, amazing that I was able to hang on and succeed for 13 years before going out with a legal settlement and a bit of cash.

That’s what I was wondering. There’s nothing in that book that’s rocket science. Lol

All my students had to do was pass a trip planning test without using a calculator and a road test.

I worked for May for 6mos to the day. They had some real crappy runs, crappy equipment & a dispatch office with a locked door & a intercom to talk through. But they gave real road tests & would go above & beyond to try to get people qualified to drive.
IMO you would have to be an extra special tool to get sent home by them, because they had plenty of regular tools steering their trucks.

Didnt even get to the my road test cause the guy that went before me completely bombed his. Long story short he didn't know left from right even when the instructor pointed him in the direction he needed to go! No use of mirrors or lane control so his trip was cut early and we we're sent upstairs while they arranged us new mentors. As fair as the book goes I knew the HOS (Hours Of Service) and had the pre trip down to a tee, but when it took me twelve mintues to back they had seen enough. I wished I could of showed where I really shined out on the road, but wasn't spared the time of day. I showed up without my paper Liscense the first two days of orientation because I lost it prior to the Greyhound ride there. That already threw me for a loop on their bad side, since you know first impressions are everything. Since May had no clue who I was I was forced to sit in the drivers lounge untill it arrived. Finally on the third day it showed up, but being the bearer of bad news stuck me on the shortest end of the stick with them. Live and learn it just wasn't meant to be, but Its fair from over. Those few hours just after they let me go I was on the ball again applying to numerous companies explaing the situation and the future looks quite promising. I'm not gonna let this one ####ed up ruin my changes of stardom. You Know?!?!?!

They ask us a series of questions beforehand, we didn't know squat!
