Lonesome Thanks this. -
Highly disappointed. I clicked on this thread to read about who stole Texas, and all you people are doing is talking about trucking, money, and jobs. Ridiculous.
Puppage, Odin's Rabid Dog, Arkansas and 10 others Thank this. -
It’s obvious you’re a VERY cultured humanoid.

Detroit area and surrounding burbs, automotive. Most shops are 24/7, all the overtime you can tolerate. Saginaw Steering (Nexteer) needs workers, again, 24/7 all the overtime you can handle. Grand Rapids area, same. Holland MI, same. These are shop jobs. Trucking, if you look around for driving jobs are paying pretty good too. My buddy is working around 40 hours a week and bringing home over $1000 net, and he is home daily. I don't think he drives more than 300 miles a week, sits most of the time in a brand new 2018 Pete day cab.
The jobs are out there, at least here they are. Many outfits are training too, no charge. Apprenticeship programs are now the norm, those start at around $17 an hour with full benefits. These are for positions such as Electrician, Boiler, HVAC, CNC, Robotics, Construction, Carpentry, etc. Many of the unions and larger businesses have started these due to the shortage of skilled labor. They will train and pay you, this includes class time and in the field. Most of these careers start you out at $80,000 a year once training is over, at least that is what they are reporting. These are one to four year apprenticeships.
My nephew just landed a job at Consumers Energy here in MI. He is 25 and unskilled. They started him at $32 an hour with benefits that would make you sick. His pay starts when he leaves the house. They need men, everyone is retiring. Same with the railroad, they are hiring too. Incredible benefits there, but very long and odd hours. This is just off of the top of my head. -
Same here. I clicked on this thread to read about somebody stealing Texas, not to read about some loser trucking company, they're a dime a dozenalready gone and Justrucking2 Thank this.
