$5,400 *70%=$3,780
320 *5=1600 miles per week
1,600 miles/5.5 mpg (fill in your MPG) = 291gallons @ $3.19 (fill in cost of fuel in your area) = $928.29
$3780-$928.29=$2,851.71
$2,851/1,600 = $1.78
or
1,600 miles/$2700=1.68 per mile....
Not horrible, but not what I would call good either. If you can beat 5.5mpg (which you should) it looks even worse for you.....but with plates, IFTA and road tax? on his end...well...run the numbers, but I don't see how home every night is your one year OTR experience......
or I could be wrong....

I think I might go full kool aid and get a new big sleeper rig.
Someone please stop me. -
We still pay for the base plates even with mercers plates too..thaistick and spyder7723 Thank this.
-
I use Mercer mobile for those and advanced but never stop using transflo for paper work and since my phone is so slow with the website I will probably go back to calling these in
-
Spyder talked me out of it. Lol. It was an easy decision for me, cheaper truck payment means less time on the road and more time at home. Lol.Triple C, Highway Sailor, Dynames and 2 others Thank this.
-
I'm too anti-social for all that talking to people. hahaha . Actually it's more of having to call and wait on hold, or they on lunch, after hrs etc.
Do you use the transflo app? Doesn't that cost you extra each time? I had to transflo something last year but I did it at the truck stop and thought there was a $1.75 charge or something close. -
@Dynames, I thought he mentioned before that he was practically debt free and lived in his truck. If you're on the road that much, it would make life more comfortable, that's for sure.....
-
IV done alot of research all the way around. I'm looking into some other companies around me as well, it's just comfortable to stay at a place we have been for years and take the O/O route that way. Might not be the most profitable gig but to get my toes wet I think it will work out. I just hate to beat the truck on these oilfield lease roads.p608 Thanks this.

Owning your truck is a lot different than these guys that are 1099 and they don't even own the truck, and I'm not talking having title in hand, I'm referencing guys who are driving a company truck and trailer.... Hard to argue being a contractor when you have absolutely no skin the game.roshea, RStewart and angrytrans Thank this.
