In @frank Speak’s case he doesn’t have much of a health plan. But who needs one when you’re practically immortal??

I hate how their drivers at the Brooks terminal drop their trailers carelessly. They don’t take the time to straighten them out so you see a bunch of huge gaps where another trailer could have been parked. Lots of facepalms.
-
My biggest gripe with other drivers when I was there was they were never held accountable for dropping trailers without sweeping them out. But, I suppose that goes on everywhere.
That’s another good thing about the gig I have now. Our trailers are assigned to us so the only time I’m dropping my trailer is if it needs service or repair. Then I get one of the 3 loaners we have.
And, since they’re pneumatics, there is no sweeping them out.

There are still a few old-school professionals still out there who dress neat with no earings and no flip flops. Ran into one the other day in George West, Tx, driving his 35 year- owned and operated K 100 cabover, and see a few more here and there. It definately has changed out here. I would say in about 5 years it will not be worth it for me.
I remember the days when we would stand around the Doswell Truckstop down in Virginia and talk out in the lot. Everyone wearing either dress shoes or cowboy boots; jeans or blue jeans with cowboy hats or hair neatly cut and looking like cusual business dress with collared shirts. Drivers were friendly and would go out of their way to help someone. That is pretty much all gone today and so are the best days of trucking.Attached Files:

I have only been doing this a couple of years..all I can think is all the regulations and e logs are the cause of this, plus an explosion in the population and so much more traffic. Everyone has a clock running. I remember when we moved from one staye to another back in 1977 when i was a kid. We had a flat one morning. My Dad got on the CB, a trucker answered..piicked him up and took him to a garage to get it fixed..doubt this would happen today.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.
