You did right, because that would have been the worst fleece purchase in fleece purchase history

In 3 months fuel consumption goes up a fair amount running the northern states... you did the right thing by passing on it..

question: is that 45% of the revenue. are they paying you the surcharge. i bet thats 45% of the billed freight miles and they are keeping the surcharge but your buying the fuel.

Cease all contact driver. If you’ve been off under 3yrs you should be ok to get a job, depending on what the “hit” on your license is

Your math is way off. 900 dollar load pay on 750 miles minus 300 for fuel is not 30 cents a mile. It’s 80 cents a mile.

I have a friend that just did this with a car hauling outfit. He quit in two months. The car loads of 7-10 cars were paying outstanding but the fuel, maintenance, tolls, etc were causing him to bring home hardly any money. They’re using you to pay their bills and make up for their poor cash flow management. That’s why they put the fuel and maintenance on your shoulders. This is a company that’s in businesss for the money only. Not the kind of people you should be working for. I hate this model as much as I hate lease purchase; it’s predatory.

This is a borderline illegal arrangement. It is their truck, they dispatch you, but you pay all the bills on just 45%. Who books and negotiates the load? Do you or they?

If they book a load for $2 bucks a mile that is only $0.90 a mile with no help from fuel surcharge to you. I guess their big selling point is you will score $.0.14 per gallon savings using their fleet card.

What happens if they book some $1.50 -- $1.80 loads your pay will be in the $0.10-$0.20 range if you are lucky. Still have to pay taxes on those earnings, well you might qualify for poverty level exemption I guess.
