It's pathetic how bad our csa score is. I'd say that's what happens when you hire anyone with a pulse, but that wouldn't explain it. Swift isn't known for having strict hiring standards and yet they have a much better csa score than us.

Our CSA score is largely due to the 'old school' mentality of "aint't nobody gonna tell me what I can do with my truck,"

People know the rules. They know they are breaking them. They don't care. Thus the score.

Look back and you will see examples in this group easily enough.

That’s one of those things that if they really worked don’t you think the OEM’s would be using them or some variation of them?

"old school" is what made Mercer. Len used to enjoy his job, it was fun talking him. These bad CSA scores have little to do with "old school"

Swift has a better CSA score because because they hire "want to be" truck drivers (Swift controls the driver and the truck)

Mercer has a worse CSA score because they hire a lot of "want to be owner operators" (they can't handle the responsibility and freedom that goes with it)

Back in the "old school" days of Mercer, they only hired "proven" owner operators,

@JonJon78 said a few post ago. The Mercer truck ahead of him, held up the crew a total of 7 hours in 2 days, without so much as a phone call. This has nothing to do with CSA, but it shows who they are hiring. So it has everything to do with CSA.

I think Mercer's hiring standards are an insult to, not only us "old school" guys, but also to the smart, hard working "new school" guys.
