Contract voted in. They said on call for guys laid off to call abf, new penn, yrc, etc, to see about getting a job. They dont know how long its gonna take for business to ramp back up to where it was.
My guess is still feb/march before junior guys are back. They did assure that call backs will be done based on seniority. Think im gonna take this regional job in the meantime and do some travelling. Fingers crossed that Im back by Easter. But heck, I might be clearing some real good money by then with this new outfit and might not wanna go back, lol.Mike2633 and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -

I think the changes made between the first offer and the last best final offer were pretty important. So he will hurt in the short term, but it will pay off long-term.
If he comes back, that is. If not, then his sacrifice will benefit future brothers and sisters, which is what the union is about. Regardless, I think he can hold his head high.Mike2633, Bob Dobalina, Bass311 and 2 others Thank this. -
I'm ignorant to the specifics of those changes - can you explain the main differences between the two contracts?Mike2633 Thanks this.

There was an increase in the number of weeks required for a year of pension credit, and an increase in the number of days required to qualify for vacation benefits. Both of those were kept at the current numbers.
They also dealt with outside contractor percentages, and dockwork pay for drivers.Mike2633, Bob Dobalina and BigDog Trucker Thank this. -
Is it true some may not return to work till February ? That's 4 months off ! Tough pill to swallow over the holidays!
Mike2633 Thanks this.
