Then I'm just saying that your options for backhauls or loads to get to higher paying loads is broader. I don't know that you SHOULD be taking $1.20 loads, but if you HAD to, you could do so and maintain profitability.Midnightrider909 Thanks this.

Volvos are great trucks.86scotty Thanks this.

Your truck only cost you $0.80 a mile to operate? And you have a new truck payment?
Operating costs should also include wages, benefits & payroll additions, maintenance escrow and replacement capital contributions.
If you're doing all that for $0.80 a mile with a new truck payment, I'm truly amazed!whoopNride, Midwest Trucker, DieselDrivinDaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Replacement capital contributions would be part of the operating expenses on the next truck. I’m an O/O so wasn’t counting wages. I have no benefits either.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

When does math class start?
It’s the first day of school and I lost my schedule.Rideandrepair, whoopNride and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Well, you can figure it however you want

However, your $0.80 a mile operating cost without those other components added, would not be a correct (in my opinion) way to assess operational cost.
For instance, capital replacement should be included in the current truck's operations budget, not the next one.Midwest Trucker and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
I don’t jump for joy over the discounts. But I sure would be a fool to not take advantage of them!
One of the best places to buy diesel is a couple blocks from my house most of the time. Problem is I have to drop my trailer and bobtail... fill one tank then move and fill the other. Then hook up to my trailer again. Takes a minimum hour from the time I decide to do it till I’m home again.
I do buy outside the card network when it makes since but most of the time I do the same or even better just a block off the freeway at a mega with my card.blairandgretchen and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Never put a drop of additive in yet. Was -28 once in Wyoming last year.
Here's my last oil sample on my ISX. Milage was 550K when he pulled it at PM.
roadtech, adayrider and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Good sample - but isn’t that silicone a bit high?
Check air intake - filter system?
But for 550k - that’s real clean.Last edited: Nov 29, 2018
