Maybe somebody should start a thread where everybody can talk about hourly and home every night verses the life style of over the road.

To continue to pollute this long running thread with such sniping back and forth is disrespectful to Evertrucker and to all who have been following along.

    In other words.......TAKE IT OUTSIDE.

Actually right now, they're $50, and get a $50 rebate, so cost of the usb modem is 0, if you sign up for a 2 year contract. But if you're going that route, you might as well sign up for 2 years...I've been with Verizon for years... and I have no more complaints about them than most other drivers have about the competition.

Otr or local? If you're local, then the '80% of $51 meal allowance' the IRS allows wouldn't apply, unless they keep you in a motel. So the taxes you pay on 80k bring it much closer to what I make. My deduction for days out last year was in the $12k+ range. Plus if I had to work local, hourly or not, I would spend a large portion of the money on medication to keep me from going more nutz than I already am. But like the guy said, we have gotten off track of this thread...my parting comments on the matter...It takes all different drivers in this industry to get the job done...find which ever fits and do it the safest, most productive way you can.

As for me, Crete came through again... Was in Miami on the load from 'H'. When I was empty they offered me a load to Indy...After asking to T'call so I can handle some personal legal business(that was on their computer since last week), they pulled it and offered me a load that goes to Jersey, and allowed me to T'call in Deland. That's the second time in Florida that I had a choice...What gives?

So, I'm home for an indefinite period of time until I get this problem straightened out once and for all, even if I have to give up my APU truck (god forbid).

Not trying to defend his comment but.....if you look up in the right corner, you will see the word trucker with a question mark under the stats column. Yours says No. Even I would think that you were not a driver.

Are you Union? What happened to do what's good for the company, as long as it's right, and it will come back to you. Why can't you give some hours a month to help them out? If you take care of them, they will take care of you. Even if they don't you can sleep at night knowing that you have helped your fellow mankind. Agree? oh well.

I am seeing a lot of trucks sitting in the truck stops lately. Is there any sense of when freight will start picking up? Are Crete's miles starting to pick up yet?

Crete's not picking up as yet, for most of us that is....except ET...:biggrin_25520:, but it's still the slow season. Some of the new Crete drivers I ran into that were fresh out of orientation a few months ago said something about being told of an increase coming in March...More than one said it, so somebody knows something...hopefully they're right, I'd like to get rolling again once I get off home time.
