When I am on these repeated Canadian runs, especially Spring Hill to Quebec, I do a round trip in 5 1/2 days, then take a 36, then do a round trip...etc.

I have enjoyed reading all of this thread! I am in the process of getting hired at Moore rite now! I had a few questions if you don’t mind! How is the physical and are you put into a single hotel room the entire 2 weeks is orientation and training? Thanks in advance and thank you for a very interesting thread!

They use the clinic at the Pilot at the Strawberry Plains exit (x-398). Nothing out of the ordinary.
You get your own room at a hotel. Not sure which they'll use. When I went thru orientation, they used the Roadway Inn, up the street from the Pilot, but I went thru training in Church Hill, and we stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Kingsport. Now they train in Mascot, and another driver told me they put him up at the LaQuinta near the same Pilot you get your physical at. Not sure if that's the new company hotel or if they just choose from what's available. I would imagine they try to keep you in the same room for the whole time, would be a royal PITA to have to train all day, then move from room to room.Flat_tire Thanks this. -
Not sure why people have such issues with going to Canada, other than being required to govern the truck to 65. My average time getting into Canada is less than 5 minutes, my average time getting back into the U.S. is less than 15 minutes(I don't have the "user fee" transponder so I have to walk in and pay it at the desk). I have had longer wait times in traffic jams in the U.S.
I had an unusual experience this last trip. I was between Montreal and Quebec, just rolling along, fat, dumb and happy, minding my own business. A group of 4-wheelers was passing me like they all do (it seems that a speed limit in Canada is more of a suggestion instead of a law), and one by one, changing lanes back in front of me. 3/4 of the way thru the pack, a couple of cars kinda cut in front of me a little less than the usual 10' most Canadian drivers consider to be a safe distance to change lanes...in fact, the 2nd was just far enough ahead I could just barely see his lights when he changed lanes...the next vehicle in the line behind him..was a cop...who proceeded to pull his arse over, I am assuming, for an unsafe lane change, because he wasn't going any faster than the rest of the pack. Sometimes you're the bug...sometimes you're ths windshield.88 Alpha and runningman0661 Thank this. -
I love that Pilot.
Is Rick still the bartender at Puelos Grill next door? -

One thing I do have to say about Canada, the salt/sand(dirt) stuff they use on their roads in winter sure makes a mess on your truck. I had so much buildup on the cover plate of the DEF plumbing, I had a landslide when I stopped for the night, and it wasn't from snow because there was a small pile of sand where it fell. But on a positive, whatever it is, it works, although I went thru 5 gal of washer fluid between Quebec and London on my way back out.
